And you don't have to take my word for it because it is certified as an environmentally preferable product by GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia), Australia's only independent environmental standards and eco-labelling organisation.

What is not in the bottle?

Here is a long list of the scary ingredients you will definitely not find in personal care products certified as environmentally preferable by GECA:

  • Anything classified as a known or suspected endocrine disruptor, mutagen or teratogen, or reported to exert effect on the respiratory tract, skin or digestive system.
  • Nanomaterials
  • Chemical UV absorbers
  • Aluminium and aluminium compounds
  • APEO and other alkylphenol derivatives (excluding phenoxyethanol)
  • Azidine or polyaziridines
  • Butoxyethanol
  • Formaldehyde or formaldehyde donors
  • Quaternary ammonium compounds that are not readily biodegradeable, monoethanolamine (MEA) and triethanolamine (TEA)
  • Halogens and halogenated compounds (except Sodium chloride)
  • Heavy metals
  • Optical brighteners
  • Parabens
  • Phthalates
  • Selecium and selenium compunds
  • The chelating agents ECTA, DTPA, NTA or phosphonates
  • Moskusxylene, Moskusambrette, Moskene, Moskustibetinand, and Moskusketone
  • Xylene sulfonates or other linear alkyl benzene sulfonates.
  • Substances deemed to be potentially bioaccumulative
  • Palm Oil or Palm Kernal Oil that is not RSPO or offset by a 'book and claim' system such as GreenPalm.
  • More than 1% VOCs
  • Phosphorus, phosphorus compounds, phosphates or phosphate derived ingredients

What is in the bottle?

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulphate
  • Coco-glucoside
  • Cocomidopropyl Betaine
  • Sodium chloride
  • Aloe Vera

  • Citric Acid

How do I use it?

This Aloe Hand and Body Wash is ready to use. You can decant it into a 500ml pump bottle of your choice, or a wall mounted dispenser. You can even dilute it into a foamer pump.
And when you have washed your hands so many times there is nothing left in the 500ml bottle, replace it with a 5 litre bottle. This way you can keep washing your hands AND reduce your plastic consumption and carbon kilometres.

Where is it made?

Its locally made. Really, really, local. Like Rhodes here in Sydney's Inner West.

What sizes does it come in?

Aloe Hand and Body Wash is available in 500ml and 5L bottles.

To make it easier for you, we've also put together a starter set of Aloe Hand & Body Wash that consists of an Eco Max biodegradeable Body Brush, two small bottles of hand wash (with pumps) and a 5 litre refill bottle.

Why is the packaging on the 500ml bottles so unusual?

There's a bit of a story behind this, but this is what you need to know:

The 500ml bottles are readily recyclable PET. We wanted to be sure that they could actually be recycled if they went into your recycling bin, so we asked some basic questions about the type of labels and adhesives we could use to ensure this would happen. We didn't get a single useful answer. So we threw up our hands and made labels that could be reused, without glue.

Each product comes with two labels: a coloured silicone band and a polypropylene neck tag.

The coloured silicone band is designed to be used over and over again. The Aloe Hand & Body Wash comes with a lovely lime green band.

The neck tag is not readily recyclable, but is designed to be reused. It is made out of Polypropylene. It is designed to stay on the neck of the concentrated product so that you always know what is in the bottle, and so that you have easy access to usage instructions. When you have used up all your product, remove this label. Turn it over. On the back is a postage paid address that you can use to return this label to the manufacturer for reuse.

The bottle itself can go into your council recycling bin.
